The Sundering
Yesterday I mentioned that the President was a lame duck and only going to get lamer. That Republicans were going to start to run away from him once they realized just how far he was dragging them down (More than they think. Not as much as they hope.). And I base that opinion on things like Bush traveling, of all things, to Capitol Hill in order to ask – ask! - Congress to salvage his immigration policy. The imperial president doesn't do that fresh off of landing on an aircraft carrier. No, even worse he was greeted by the deafening sound of crickets.
But, no, how you can really tell that the chariots are unhitched from Bush's falling star is that he's starting to hurt where it counts. In the wallet.
These are the Republicans we're talking about. It starts with the fundraising. Then it moves on to policy. And it's only a matter of time before something, somewhere, somehow breaks that rift wide open.
