Guild Wars: Randomness in the Arenas?

It seems like the developers took exactly the wrong lesson out of the Costume Brawls. Namely, it was the shrines and not the level playing field making thing easier that people liked. Because it looks like they went and got capping all over my deathmatches.

Official patch notes say it's only in the Team Arenas but the unofficial word is that it's in the RA, too. They're not seriously expecting random groups to work in a split n' cap format, are they? It only worked in the CB because everyone was tailored for that environment.

I haven't managed to test them out myself since I'm on a self-imposed exile for writerly reasons. Anyone seen how this actually works? Did they lift the HvH maps whole cloth or did they just take the layouts and leave the shrines behind?

At least they've gotten one thing right here. This weekend's roulette wheel of bonuses has landed on the Arenas. You'll get double faction and glad points for playing at the very time they're rolling out this change. Exactly when you'd want a lot of eyes to judge if it's a good change. And exactly how you'd try and lure a lot of people to try the format all over again. That's how you do a bonus weekend, dart throwing monkeys. Keep that up, please.
