MLB: Oh So Clear
Can we stamp an asterisk on him now?
Blah blah blah, guilty until proven innocent, court of public opinion and everything. And, yes, Bonds was indicted not for use of controlled substances but, instead, for perjury and obstruction of the investigation to find out if he had. This leaves the Libby dodge open - that he didn't do anything wrong because his crime made it impossible to find out if he had which is, of course, as bullshit now as it was then - but although prosecutors can indict a ham sandwich, that ham sandwich generally needs to at least have had the appearance of doing something wrong. And it's becoming increasingly difficult to claim that Bonds has done nothing wrong.
