I'd Cook Tiramisu All the Time, If I Could

Superbad fever. Have you caught it yet? If not, here, comedy goodness to stuff into your eyeballs until your mind is overflowing with happy:

I haven't been this geeked about a movie since Wet Hot American Summer. Which featured the almost reunion of the State (Someone, somewhere, is getting me those DvDs, I don't care how.). And was, literally, like watching awesome distilled onto celluloid.

I don't know, maybe it's because I can readily identify with the antics of some painfully awkward teenagers. Or maybe it's because this is another production from Apatow's murderer's row (Murderers as in comedy. As in “I killed on stage” and....oh, forget it.) the same folks who brought us the 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up. Maybe it's the residual halo effect from Arrested Development. But this movie looks to be not just good but an instant classic. The source of a thousand in-jokes and memes which will spread across the internets. Like 300 except, you know, stemming from a work with actual artistic merit. It'll be a watershed event. A way of separating the in from the other as every conversation will include some veiled references to the film. Those who want to retain their geek cred will be expect to quote chapter and verse on demand lest they face the horrible questioning of, “Dude, are you gay?”. Whole subcultures, future civilizations will be founded on the wisdom contained within this ephemeral piece of early 21st century culture. Those who view it first run will be witness to history in the making. Their grandchildren will ask them about it and they'll speak of it in hushed tones of reverence.

In other words, I'm really quite looking forward to this one.

August 17th. We will all be McLovin soon.
