Wolverines Blogging: What I Meant to Say Was...
Okay, let me boil down yesterday's post to the relevant point.
It's the loss to Oregon that really stings. That week, the Wolverines had the opportunity to come out and show that the previous week had been a fluke, that they'd overlooked or underestimated a game Appalachian State team. That a what they expected to be a sleepy warm-up game turned into a nail-biting affair which they still almost won except the bounces went against them in the last few moments. Shouldn't have ever gotten to that point, of course, but the way things work, college poll voters have a short memory. They forgive those early losses. The sting, the shock, goes out of them. Especially if you take care of business the rest of the way. But what Oregon did, by coming to Ann Arbor and hammering Michigan on their own field, was to shatter they myth that this team was a viable one.
