The Tallyboard Is Dead

Well, I meant to post this on Saturday but it got lost in the shuffle of the tournament and all.

  • Posts I wanted to make, um, Saturday: 10
  • Posts I actually made, um, Saturday: 7+
  • Posts to reach my goal: 5
  • Days left: 0

I actually did manage to get over 100 posts for the month of March, according to the counter. A day's worth of blogging tournament matches will do that for you, after all. I don't really count the whole LiveBloggy thing as making posts, though. I was really talking about making preplanned commentary not just free form rambling. I only did seven of those the other day. But, since I abandoned posting to work on watching the tournament, I'd like to think if I kept going I could have had those last six posts with ease. I had plenty of outlines left to get to (And hopefully, I'll be able to flesh them out soon enough) - hadn't even begun to talk about GW2, for example, and you know I could go off on that horrid thing for a while.

So, I think we'll call this a win but we'll put an asterisk in the record book. But, all in all, a rousing success. The goal wasn't so much to reach an arbittary number so much as it was to kickstart my blogging mojo. And I think I've done it.

The Tallyboard Three: I'm Too Sick To Come Up With Something Witty

  • Posts I wanted to make today: 10
  • Posts I actually made today: 6
  • Posts to reach my goal: 13
  • Days left: 1
I'm even sicker today than I was yesterday. I could try and tough it out but, honestly, I think my writing's turned to crap and I can barely concentrate. So, I'm going to call it a night, drink some more tea and have some more soup, and try to get some rest. Hopefully, I can be well enough tomorrow for one last push but, honestly, I'm kind of doubting that I can make it (Ah, but you might have noticed I haven't published much GW stuff lately. If I can ramble on about anything, it's Guild Wars. I just don't know if I have 13 posts worth of rambling in me what with the tournament and all.).

I think I am going to go ahead and try to liveblog the tournament tomorrow. I've never done something lie that before and the game times are kinda inconvenient for me so we'll see how it goes. But I'm pretty much going to be camped out in front of the monitor tomorrow going over the games as soon as I can. As I said earlier, if there are any games you'd like me to offer comment on, please let me know.

The Tallyboard Two: Electric Boogaloo

  • Posts I wanted to make today: 10
  • Posts I actually made today: 5
  • Posts to reach my goal: 19
  • Days left: 2

Sigh, another day where I've fallen far short of the mark. Saturday is going to be a bad day, too, what with the Celestial Tournament and all. This time around the excuse is that I've taken deathly ill.

You ever have one of those moments where you can feel yourself getting sick? For me, it happened last night as my team was gearing up for a GvG run. I felt my throat getting a bit scratchy so I took a drink. “Hmm,” I went, “That didn't help at all. Oh crap, I'm coming down with something.”

So, I want you to know that I almost threw in the towel on my mad dash to 100 posts several times today. However, I eventually decided that it was time to persevere. I'm not sure if the results are worthwhile but there's still two days left so I'm not quitting yet. I am, however, quitting for the night because I'm about to collapse. So, I'm going to get to bed early and hope whatever disease is plaguing me will be burned off by the morning.

The Tallyboard

  • Posts I wanted to make today: 10
  • Posts I actually made today: 4
  • Posts to reach my goal: 25
  • Days left: 3

So, fell a bit short today but, you know, I'm still feeling pretty good. I'll let you in on a little blogging secret of mine: I generally don't post things right away. I make an outline, then a draft (And, yes, I know, my grammar and spelling still suck.) and then, when I'm finally proud or fed up enough with something, I release it into the wild, as it were. You don't get to see all the posts I've made half-starts on or put aside because I need to track down a link or some reading material before I'm comfortable with posting them – that's one reason I tend to post so much about Guild Wars, I think, because I know the source so well and I don't really need much research (Or, really, I research posts while I'm looking into the latest metagame shifts and shakes). And I've got a pile of those waiting for me tomorrow when I should have a lot more time to work on things. Today was about gearing up and setting things up for the rest of the marathon I'm running. And I'd rather pace myself now rather than burn out too quickly.

The important thing is that I'm in blogging mode. Saving links and jotting down ideas for posts and, in general, just thinking about the blog. I haven't exactly abandoned it but it hasn't been as high a priority lately and turning that around is what this little project is all about.

I Need A New Challenge

Sigh, another gorgeous day outside that makes me not want to do much of anything. It's supposed to cool off considerably by tomorrow, though.

But, the tournament's over, the month's drawing to a close, and I'm feeling burned out in general. I've got the blahs.

So, I think it's time to find a new project to throw myself into for a while. And, you know, I think I'll pick blogging. At least for now. I've noticed on the right over there that I've made a mere 70 posts this month. That's quite a few but it's still far less than the 100 I want to average (Or just roughly over 3 posts a day - and even then I don't want to include posts like this one.). But, with three days left in this month, if I could crank out 10 posts a day until the end of the month, I could just barely make it. And, you know, what the hell, I'm going to try.

One ground rule, though: I can't cheat by making a post which isn't worthwhile. No one liners or simple link-blogging. I don't tend to do that sort of thing because, you know, if I want to say something I'm going to try and articulate it, so I'm not all that worried.

So, tune in tomorrow when I try to blog my brains out. It's been a while but I used to have fun with it.
